Labline Support
Transportation Team
Our Transportation Team transports Labs from shelters and owner homes to boarding facilities, foster homes, and vet appointments. Transportation Team volunteers can choose the transportation requests that work with their schedule.
Vet Liaison Team
Each dog that comes into the DLRR family is assigned a Vet Liaison. Vet Liaison duties include:
- Obtaining, reviewing and uploading vet records for new intakes
- Ensuring each DLRR dog has all the required vaccinations
- Scheduling DLRR dogs’ vet appointments
- Approving assigned dogs for medical release for listing in the Dog-a-Log
Shelter Dog Watch
DLRR intakes Labs and Lab mixes from numerous shelters around Arizona. Shelter volunteer duties include:
- Walking through shelters to see if there are Labs or Lab mixes to intake
- Viewing shelter websites for possible intakes
Volunteer Coordination
Our Volunteer Team duties include:
- Reviewing new volunteer applications
- Emailing the Volunteer Manual to new volunteers
- Assigning the volunteer training
- Contacting new volunteers to discuss volunteer opportunities
- Contacting inactive volunteers to discuss re-engaging
Administrative Support
Many of DLRR’s teams have administrative tasks associated with their roles. Examples include:
- Writing stories and biographies about our dogs
- Editing written materials
- Assisting with social media
- Helping with database entry/management
- Assisting with marketing and fundraising programs
Dog Evaluators
Dog evaluators assist the Intake Team and evaluate dogs from shelters and owner turn-ins. DLRR dog evaluators receive training and shadow experienced evaluators prior to conducting evaluations on their own. DLRR evaluator duties include:
- Evaluating dogs in their current setting, shelter, or home
- Writing an evaluation summary and providing it to the Intake Team
Events Team
DLRR plans many community events throughout the year, held in various locations throughout the state. Responsibilities for the Events Team volunteers include:
- Planning and attending community events where the public can meet our dogs and learn more about DLRR
- Setting up and breaking down the equipment at the event
Fostering
Foster homes are the cornerstone of our organization. We have full-time, temporary, and vacation fosters.
Home Visit Team
The Home Visit Team’s responsibilities include:
- Performing virtual or in-home visits with adoption applicants to ensure the home is a safe environment for our Labs
- Providing education to adopters about rescue dogs and the commitment involved in adopting a rescue dog
- Writing home visit notes and entering them in the DLRR database
Intake Team
The Intake Team (shelter and owner turn-ins) is responsible for tasks associated with bringing a dog into DLRR.
Kennel Service Team
DLRR uses boarding facilities when fosters are unavailable. Volunteers visit the dogs daily. Duties include:
- Visiting, walking, and socializing our dogs
- Reporting any concerning behaviors and/or health issues to the dog’s foster advocate
Labline Support
DLRR has a phone number and email address on the DLRR website for people to contact the organization. Labline volunteers answer the Labline calls and are provided a list of FAQs, along with other resources for use in answering calls.

DLRR uses social media to share information, such as new intakes, adoptions, fundraisers, and community events. Other duties include:
